What is Roadside Assistance?
Roadside Assistance covers the services you need when you are stranded on the side of the road by the unexpected. It could be a tow, getting pulled out of a ditch, or an emergency fill-up.
What does Roadside Assistance cover?
Here’s the help you can get with Root’s Roadside Assistance.
Jump-start
If your battery dies, we’ll provide a jump-start to get your vehicle moving again.
Towing
If your car breaks down, we can tow your car to a location you choose.
Fuel delivery
If you run out of gas, we’ll bring some to you.
Spare-tire installation
Need flat tire service? We can change your damaged tire out with your spare.
Lockout service
If you lock yourself out of your car, we’ll help you get back in.
Winching
If your vehicle gets stuck in sand or mud, we can pull your car out.
How much does Roadside cost?
How much you pay for Roadside Assistance depends on the quote you receive with Root.
For vehicles on your policy covered by Roadside Assistance, we cover any service up to $100, up to 3 times per vehicle, per 6-month policy period. The only cost to you is if you ever need to request service more than 3 times during a 6-month policy period or if the service you request costs above $100. The good news is that most services cost less than that.
How does Roadside Assistance work?
Getting roadside help is simple—you can request it right through the Root app. Once you’ve requested help, you can choose to receive text updates about your service and to track your Roadside Assistance driver in real time. To request roadside service once you’re a Root customer, just open the app and select File a Claim at the bottom of your home screen. Then choose Roadside Assistance. If you owe anything, you can just pay through the app. Otherwise, it’s all taken care of for you.
