How do I purchase Carvana Insurance built with Root?
You can only purchase Carvana Insurance built with Root through the Carvana website. Directly after purchasing a car you will have the opportunity to add the insurance during checkout.
Is my policy with Carvana or Root? How do I manage my policy?
Your policy is with Root, but you purchase this insurance through Carvana. You can manage everything about your policy online or in the Root app—find your insurance card, make changes to your policy, and file a claim.
How do I add or remove vehicles and/or drivers from my Root policy?
You can make changes to your policy right in the Root app. It’s easy:
Open the app
Tap Auto Policy
Tap Profile Information
From the Profile Information section, you can make any needed changes to your policy.
Is Carvana Insurance built with Root available in my state?
Root is currently available in the following states: AR, AZ, CO, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WI, WV.
How do I download the app? What phones do you support?
Root is available for iPhones (5s and above) and most Android phones. After you purchase your insurance, you’ll get a link to download the app. When you register, use the same email address from your Carvana account.
Can I speak to an agent to help select coverage?
Absolutely! If you have questions or feel more comfortable working with an agent, you can call: 833-360-2743 Monday–Friday from 9am–8pm ET.
Can I cover non-Carvana purchased vehicles on the same policy? What if I want to add a new driver to my policy?
You can customize your policy on the Carvana website and add other non-Carvana vehicles to it as well as any other people you want on your policy. Once your policy is active, you can also make changes in the app, like adding and removing drivers or cars.
What happens if I return my car?
If you return your car, you’ll need to contact Root directly to cancel your policy.
What happens if my car delivery is delayed?
If you find out your car delivery date is being delayed and your insurance policy isn’t in effect yet, you can go into the Root app and update the policy start date to your new delivery date. It’s easy:
Open the app
Select Auto Policy
Select Policy
Select Policy Start Date
Select the calendar and choose a new date up to 60 days in the future
To save your changes, be sure to select the arrow at the bottom right corner of the screen. You can’t change the effective date of your policy once it’s gone live.
Does Root offer Roadside Assistance?
Each policy includes 24/7 Roadside Assistance (except in CA and NV, where you can add it on as separate coverage).
Does Root need to measure my driving before I get a quote?
Nope! The quote you see in the Carvana dashboard is your total price.
What types of coverage does Root offer?
Root has all the coverage options you need. We offer what most people consider full coverage: Liability (Bodily Injury and Property Damage), Collision, and Comprehensive as well as state minimums. We also have rental car coverage and Roadside Assistance. Check out your options here.
How do I change or update my coverages?
